And I Would Be Your Slave

Open Up Your Heart To Me. Show Me All You Are. And I Would Be Your Slave. –David Bowie

These Lyrics of David Bowie’s hold true for me. It is why I adore children and dogs. They open their hearts to me and show me all that they are. They end up holding my heart in their hands or paws.
Below are pictures of a beautiful early spring walk along Lake Okanagan. Tabs, Fernando, Pablo and I.

Pablo and Fernando on the car trip to the Lake. Pablo super curious and Fernando just taking in the view–a relaxed, seasoned passenger.
Tabs, Pabs and Nando.
The boys and I. They’re on their new lead system I recently purchased. It is the best. It is designed to walk 2 dogs at once–they never get tangled. I bought them matching harnesses because I cannot cope with hearing a dog asphyxiate itself by pulling on its collar.
Tabs and the boys on the beach.
On the board walk. A little snow still at higher elevations.
The lake water is refreshing! The dogs drank from it but no paws stepped in.

Walking these beasts–I truly am their slave. It takes all the strength I have to keep them from jumping on every dog we pass or in Fernando’s case–trying to bite the ankles of every human that passes. How did I end up with such devils of dogs?

Spring has arrived. The down town outdoor ice rink is ice no longer.

BC teachers are on strike this week for the next three days. My girls will have a 5 day weekend. They return to school for only 2 days and then a 2 week spring break! My youngest 2 will be traveling with their cousins to visit their Granny and Granddad for a week. Mist has not decided what she wants to do for the March break yet. While the little girls are visiting their grandparents, I will pull together my final presentation for that week is the week I will finally defend my M.A. thesis.

A relaxed weekend for my family. Had a wonderful supper at my sister Miranda’s (and John’s) on Friday night after my Zumba class.

My eldest 2 daughters had a piano recital Sunday. Pip and I built a train track and I also taught a Zumba class (a last minute request to sub at a gym in Kelowna).

Must go now and do my Ab workout before my nieces arrive to start the teachers strike off right–a play date with my gals 🙂
