Best Spelt Brownies Ever!

Welcome to 2013!

To start the year off right, I offer to you a steaming cup of kindness and a mouthful of delicious brownies!

I won’t even pretend these are good for you.

But for those of you who need to believe these are going to do your whole-self good: yes, spelt is a less modified form of wheat and it is whole grain in this recipe (so let’s go with that).

Treat yourself to the brownies below with a hot cuppa kindness from me 🙂

Best Spelt Brownies Ever!

In pot on low/med heat melt (stirring constantly):

3/4 cup cocoa

1 cup sugar

2/3 cup salted butter

Remove from heat and add:

pinch of salt

2 eggs

1 tsp vanilla

(stir until smooth and shiny)

Add:

1/2 cup whole spelt flour

1/2 cup chocolate chunks (or chips)

(stir 40 times)

Bake at 330 oF for 25 minutes in a 9″square, buttered pan.

    can crushed nuts be added to this recipe or will they fall apart? cheers

      Haven’t tried nuts yet as my kids won’t let me. However, I’d add some if I was making a batch just for me (pecans or walnuts)–go for it.
