Happy Birthday Beautiful Canada!

Dear Canada,

I spent your birthday celebrating in one of my favourite places on Earth–the Okanagan region of British Columbia. I love it for its varied terrain and also because it is the hottest and driest region of your vast geographical range (nestled in the Monashee Mountains, in between the Coastal Mountains and the Columbia Mountains).

I spent the day exploring with my family: a hike to Fintry waterfall, a dip in Lake Okanagan and then in the late evening, we climbed Knox Mountain to catch the fireworks below on Lake Okanagan.

Thank You Canada, I had a blast at your 148 Birthday party!

Forever devoted to preserving your natural splendour and all your magnificent wild children…

Peter carrying Pip part way to Fintry Falls. Pip, in her ball cap, fake glasses and messy hair (sticking our from beneath the cap) was channelling Garth from Wayne’s World. I secretly chuckled whenever she put on the glasses.

Pool, mid way down Fintry Falls–impossible (and far too dangerous) to access but so tempting!

GReat pictures. Those are quite the glasses Pip is wearing!

Thank you S. She’s taken to wearing a black horn-rimmed pair during the day–with the lenses taken out. It’s funny, all my girls have gone through an “I want to wear glasses phase.” They’ve been fortunate that none of them actually need the glasses.
