Okay, you’re in luck today because I’ve decided to post something upbeat, cheerful even: an ode to my eldest dog son, Fernando.

I’ve been cross-eyed all week finishing up editing and honestly, typing words and/or reading any extra words other than my work, nearly pushes me to writer’s burn-out. One more word and I may spontaneously combust.

However, my blog is tapping its foot, waiting for my attention. So, instead of ignoring my blog, or worse, complaining, I am giving my readers a small taste of the cheerful little pug that brightens my days, no matter what is going down. That boy is Fernando, otherwise known as Nando or Nanders or Little Black Devil!

Fernando is six. Everyone said four is the magic number. A dog calms down by four. Forget that, said Fernando. He’s mellowed a little but I swear, it’s only because he has to keep his dog brother, Pablo, in line. One time, Pablo spent a few days with a trainer and without him, Fernando was Little Black Devil once again.

I am in love with Fernando and he is my number one fan. If Pablo refuses to listen to me, it’s Fernando who chases him down and barks and growls at him until he steps back in line. Best of all, Fernando loves to cuddle and his ears are like soft velvet.

I love both my dog boys but this post is all about the ‘Nando so I’ll leave you with a video from a few years ago, when Fernando was a puppy and Pippi and I decided to sing an ABBA song about him. Pippi is beyond adorable, unsure of most of the lyrics except her pup’s name!
