Tabitha

You are beautiful.
Holding you in my arms,
Precious and tiny,
I know God loves me.

Fuzzy Blonde hair,
Deep navy eyes,
Chubby wrists,
Soft belly.

Singing hush little baby.
The smell of your neck,
Soft, sweet.
Delicate head on my shoulder.

All that you are is dear.
Perfection that I may love.

Your voice, eyes smile.
Smile shining.
The universe is bright and warm.

Together we are,
My beautiful girl.
My honeymoon Tabs and me.

* When Tabs was a tiny baby her big sister Mistaya called her “Honeymoon Tabs.” I don’t know why but the name stuck and that is why I call her that in the above poem. I wrote this poem for Tabs when she was 2 months old.

Tabitha and Mom seconds after birth.
Tabs (a few days old) and Mom.

Tabs at 3 months (always smiling).
Tabs on spring walk in her perambulator.
Tabs not sure she likes cantaloupe.
Tabs at Ballet class age 2.
Tabs on the North coast of BC at age 3.
Tabs age 2 at her Auntie Catherine’s wedding.
Today my darling Tabitha is twelve years old. I remember her birth day like it was last year. She was the most amazing baby. She never cried, in fact, I was worried that perhaps there was something wrong with her and that perhaps she couldn’t cry. But no, she was super healthy and just a happy, content little babe. I called her my little dynamo because she was so quick and active and so tiny in size. I could never take her in public without being stopped constantly because of her beautiful blonde, curly afro. Her hair is long now, and less curly but when it is short the curls are unstoppable! Enjoy the baby pics of my second born daughter, my darling Tabs.
