Parking the Car in Winter

The above pic is fitting today as we have more snow coming down! My latest posts have a winter/snowy theme. I suppose, the fact that our region had the biggest dump of snow in over 100 years, just last week, has something to do with it. Unfortunately, although our winter temperatures are mild, we tend to have little to no sun in the winter.

Though, today the snow is great because Silver Start needs it. The conditions were a little icy on Wednesday and I would know this because (don’t tell anyone but…) my daughter Tabitha and I took a little “field trip” to the mountain tops in search of sunshine and blue sky. We found the sunshine at Silver Star Ski Resort! It was an awesome afternoon of alpine skiing in the sunshine with Tabby Cat. I treat my girls to one midweek ski day a season. Yes, they miss school on one day but they gain so much more! Skiing midweek means quiet slopes void of snowboarding youths careening down busy slopes at insane speeds and a much needed dose of vitamin D. I’m glad we did it because today the white stuff is coming down hard and there’s still no sun to be found down here in the Okanagan Valley.

Have a great weekend my friends!

Must have been wonderful to see the sun. I think it was visible for an hour here yesterday.

That hour must have been priceless. I told Tabby as we reached the ski resort and gradually inched our way out of the heavy fog, and found bright blue ski and sunshine waiting for us up top: this trip has been worth it, even if just for this moment.
