Birthday Boy!

We celebrate two milestone birthdays in my family this weekend. My eldest daughter, Mist turns sweet 16 and my nephew Kyran, turns 19. Mist is now old enough to drive and Kyran is old enough to purchase alcohol. It seems as though my Mist was a chubby, smiling cherub baby only yesterday. Now my cherub is an elegant young woman, 3 inches taller than me!

The photos are from last night’s supper at a local French restaurant, Bouchons. It was Mist’s first night at the adult table. Usually, when we have late family suppers out, the children stay

at the hotel condo for a take-out supper party, games and movies. Our youngest girls enjoyed the condo while Mist joined the adults at Bouchons. There were a few times during the evening, that I am sure Mist wished she was back at the condo party.

When my sisters and I get together, we usually become very creative and plan some grand scheme to embark on. Last night we created The Junk Club. My sisters, Kim and I are the first 4 members of this exclusive art club. We are painters, looking for four more talented women to join our group of eight. What we paint is top-secret, for now, but I will say, it is revolutionary.

I laughed so hard all evening my cheeks ached.

My family has gathered for special family suppers at Bouchons for nearly a decade. Miranda and I were recalling that at the first supper, we both had to take a break to breast feed our babies on the deck (it was summer).

The birthday boy was a real sport and agreed to wear both the cake hat and unicorn horn for the evening.

It’s Movemeber this month in North America. That means men are encouraged to grow facial hair for charity. You might notice the beginnings of some interesting ‘stashes and beards amongst our clan.
