Pippi’s Hawaiian Christmas

posted in: Motherhood 2
Pippi’s kindergarten class danced the hula at the Christmas concert. Pip was adorable as she is the kind of kid that smiles naturally throughout the concert as she sings and dances–she is truly having fun up there! This pleases me as I was not that kid. I was shy and looked at the ground when I sang.
Off to do some Christmas shopping this morning and then an afternoon baking and decorating gingerbread women cookies with my little gals. I’m going to invent spelt gingerbread cookies. I’ll post the pics if they turn out. I am so happy I am finished my thesis revisions and invigilating exams on campus and teaching Zumba. I was so burnt out that I need this time before Christmas to relax and enjoy being with my darlings. Our tree is up and decorated. The downstairs smells wonderful of fresh pine. We purchased a Douglas pine tree this year.
I am loving our new pup Pablo. He is beyond adorable. Fernando is the best big bro a pup could ask for. Suddenly my demon-dog has turned into the most dapper and sophisticated, calm gentleman dog. I am so happy with my boys. They add so much joy to my home. I adore animals and children. I am always so happy surrounded by both.
Will probably skate a little this week but it is very warm in Kelowna this December–no snow and +6 oC. The downtown rink may not last much longer.
I know January will be a challenge extraordinaire as I am teaching Zumba for UBC and the Kelowna School District and the Rec Centre as well as defending my thesis.
I must say this wee break from intense dance workouts is nice–when one dances it floods the brain with endorphins and the brain gets used to such a high level that nothing compares to the dancing high. When I break from dance, the brain is in shock from lack of endorphins and starts to enjoy smaller pleasures once again. This is why ZUmba dance is addictive. It’s similar to practicing serious meditation–floods the brain with endorphins and nothing else compares to that peaceful sense of well being.
Once my M.A. degree is signed, sealed and delivered I will tackle the world of e-Book publishing: establishing my own mini publishing house and publishing 4 of my books in short order. Depending on how those sell, I have 2 more on the shelf to publish after that and many more written in my head that need to be born. For now though, my goal is four books first and then reward myself by allowing myself the time to complete a painting series. Publish and then paint a series–sounds like a pattern I’ll enjoy.
Hope you enjoy my darling Hawaiian Princess Pippi:
