Portrait of My Daughter II

posted in: Creative | 0

I had to show you the finished face from the portrait of my daughter, Pippi. In the previous painting, the eyes were roughed in and now, in this picture, you can see that I’ve completed them. The face is officially complete! I love painting eyes, I enjoy the challenge of perfecting all the little details and colour variations.

I haven’t painted in a while–at least five years. Now that I’m back into it, I realize how much I love it and missed it! I want to keep painting daily, it’s Zen work for me–when I paint I lose all track of time. And a painting takes less time to finish than a novel, so there’s a much faster sense of personal accomplishment. Ideally, my new work days will include both pursuits.
