Truth is seldom spoken in our world. We choose to remain silent to avoid conflict or we speak words designed to intimidate/manipulate others.

Speaking the truth takes practice. Waiting to speak until after emotional clouds have left the mind is the best chance we have at speaking words that are true rather than laced with strong emotion.

Speaking the truth is tricky. It must also be spoken with compassion otherwise the collateral damage far exceeds any good that can come out of the truth.

Speaking one’s truth without compassion is like cutting down an entire rosebush when all you want to do is pluck a single bud.

Using one’s voice to speak the truth is liberating and I am determined to practice. I also choose to practice speaking eloquently because that’s the artist in me.

Speak your own truth, speak it with compassion, and you will no longer fall prey to using your words to bully or fall silent when bullied.
