Me, as witch, with 2 of my sisters on Halloween circa early 1970s. *My talented Mom sewed all of our costumes.

Halloween is nearly upon us. I thought I’d share an old Halloween picture of myself (witch) and 2 of my sisters (youngest sis wasn’t born yet) on Halloween. I am 4 years old in this pic. I was a Canadian trick or treater and that is why I’m wearing a huge down-filled jacket under my black witch dress—sigh…I was aways the puffiest witch on the block.

Yes, it’s true; witches do have more fun.

Whenever my sisters/friends and I played make believe as kids, I always preferred the witch role. Witches know where the action is—they get to do all the exciting and dangerous stuff! That is why, from preschool onward, for nearly every single Halloween, I dressed up as a witch.

Anyone who reads my blog will know that I am a witch who loves both cats and dogs. At the moment, I do not have a black cat; but, I do have a black pug named Fernando. Thus, I leave you with a Halloween quote by BC writer/artist, Douglas Coupland:

“I think if human beings had genuine courage, they’d wear their costumes every day of the year, not just on Halloween. Wouldn’t life be more interesting that way? And now that I think about it, why the heck don’t they? Who made the rule that everybody has to dress like sheep 364 days of the year? Think of all the people you’d meet if they were in costume every day. People would be so much easier to talk to – like talking to dogs. ”
