We meet on the verge of wild, where the wolf is our ancient comrade and our forgotten selves wait at the forest edge.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h4><strong><em>About Mix Hart&#8230;<\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Mix&#8217;s latest novel, <em>Hotel Beringia,<\/em> was published by Tidewater Press, 2024. She made her debut as a novelist with <em>Queen of the Godforsaken<\/em>, published by Thistledown Press in 2015.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hart is a writer and classically trained multimedia artist. Her stories are frequently set in the wilds of the Canadian West, with complicated protagonists\u2014most often women. She explores humanity\u2019s interconnectedness with the other species in the landscapes where we spend our lives. She is also interested in familial trauma and the concept of \u201cDNA memory\u201d\u2014that we carry our ancestral traumas in our DNA. She invites readers to explore the quiet\u2014and not so quiet\u2014tensions and enduring connections that shape our lives and the environments we call home. \u00a0She is currently working on a novel about humanity\u2019s relationship with the wolf. Her paintings are studies of Western Canadian wildlife as emissaries to our wild selves.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mix holds BEd, MA degrees. Additionally, she pursued doctoral studies \u00a0at the University of British Columbia where she was honoured with a four-year Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council Canada (SSHRC) Doctoral Fellowship Award. Her research focused on the human-wolf relationship from its ancient beginnings to present day via narrative.<\/p>\n<p>Mix is Western Canadian, born and raised.
