The Dalai Lama–a Simple Buddhist Monk

I went to this movie last night with Amanda. I loved it because it showed the exact opposite of what it was supposed to demonstrate. 40 “brilliant minds” (self labeled), arrived in India to synergize their expertise and attempt to share some of their world problem solutions with the Dalai Lama.
What transpired were 40 of the most average American minds and 40 of the worlds biggest egos, tantruming and talking in circles and failing to come up with any thoughts at all. They were all obsessed with the Dalai’s celebrity. The poor Dalai Lama, after it was all over all he could do was reiterate what they said they were attempting to do and how they had not done it–of course in the most kind, eloquent way.
Feel much improved on the head injury front, although a slight head ache persists. Not going to worry about my snowboarding future for at least a season. I need a break to decide if I will abandon it completely or not. But if I do abandon it, I will switch to skiing because I LOVE LOVE LOVE being high in the mountains in the snow. It is a great place to be, a ski hill–a different world.
Today a snow fall warning for Kelowna. It is snowing hard even though it is melting.
Pip’s Bday tomorrow. Will pick up all the girls and meet Peter for Pip’s Birthday lunch at Red Robin–so Pip can have the hoopla of the sparkles and cake and staff song. Her party will be on Sunday–next. It is the only day all of us will be at home. Peter will be in Vancouver on Friday and I in class on Saturday.
Trips to San Fransisco and Vancouver booked. A valentine 3 night stay in Vancouver at the Fairmont in a suite for Peter and I. And then a week at the San Fran Fairmont in a suite in April, for us as well. Should be wonderful! I can hardly wait. Peter had Fairmont points to upgrade us to suites at both locations. We plan on meeting Peter’s supervisor, Dr. Willinski at Stanford and touring the campus.
I am so excited about two of my life goals: one is to travel on a pilgrimage to India to study with the Dalai Lama–I will do this within the year, I hope, as I so want to. The second involves a career goal of mine. To get actively involved in the expansion of female literacy around the globe–educating one girl at a time. These two goals keep me so excited and focused.
I like the Tibetan prayer beads the Dalai Lama wears on his left wrist. I would really like to find some for myself.
