Globe & Mail Photos

Happy to report The Globe & Mail gave me a birthday present of sorts. They published 3 of my summer photos. I am happy because they have rejected a number of my photos in the past so when I get one published I celebrate and 3 in one day is a revelation 😀
I love being a reporter. Writing and photography come naturally to me–obviously, I do this blog for free!

I had a great birthday kayaking, dancing (Peter and the girls gave me a Zumba wii game). Pip developed the stomach flu in the evening and missed my birthday supper and cake. So far none of us have caught it. Tabs had it a few days before Pip though. Going to purchase myself fivefinger barefoot runners and I am also trying on some professional dancing trainers–anything to save my knees and hips. They get so abused with all of the dancing, running and lunges I do.

Tabs treated me to a pre-birthday surprise. She took me to the Parkinson Rec Centre for an afternoon of swimming and them out for coffee at Starbucks–she even said I could order a drink AND a treat! She is so precious and dear. I love that her idea of a birthday treat for me is swimming at a public pool–it’s her idea of an amazing day out! And it truly was, I love hanging with my girls. We took the Pip with us (Mist was still camping with firends). I even jumped off the swinging rope into the pool–water up my nose…

The day before I treated Pip and Tabs the The Sumrfs 3D. Pip laughed hysterically through the entire movie. It was worth sitting through the 2h just to hear her laugh so hard. Often she was the only one in the theatre laughing.  The Tabs asked me afterward, “So, did you like it mom?” I knew both she and Pip loved it so I said, “Yes, it was great!” She said, “”See…I knew you’d love it mom!” So, the word on the street is yes, I  liked The Smurfs 3D.

Must find time to start painting. It is difficult. I cannot work all day as I have 3 darling daughters who deserve a good and fun summer. I feel very guilty if I work more than a couple of hours each day. I often say, I did not give birth to 3 babies and breast-feed them a total of 6 1/2 years to not spend time with them each and every day. Being a mom and developing a career can rip one apart.
