North Stradbroke “Straddie” Island (Minjerribah) is one of my favourite places on Earth to date. Somehow, it has managed to preserve its wildness and also have accessible beaches and hikes.

We found everything on Straddie: wild koalas, wild kangaroos, surf beaches, swimming beaches, snorkelling spots, epics oceans views from craggy cliffs. I could happily live on Straddie Island.

Minjerribah (Straddie Island) is half nature reserve (Naree Budjong Djara National Park). The Quandamooka people have lived on the island for at least 21,000 years.

I hope you enjoy the pictures from our day exploring the Northern tip of Straddie Island. It was an enchanted day. That is how Australia is for me: supernatural and wondrous. Each day, the natural beauty leaves me in awe-shock. I am soaking up every drop of Aussie life.

Packing up: time to catch the ferry back to Brisbane. The sun sets over the Coral Sea during our ferry ride and we arrive on Brisbane shores in the black night. We hop aboard the free ferry bus shuttle that takes us to our train. We ride the train for an hour, it drops it off at Central Station, then it’s a three minute walk to our apartment. We arrive home happily exhausted with sand seeping from our pores.
