Spotted this sign posted on a street a few blocks from Venice Beach. So cool. We viewed the sign before we even got to the beach. It was the perfect temptation–made Venice Beach seem all the more exciting and mythical.
Venice Beach was our first L.A. stop. We had to explore the area famous for colourful characters. The morning was warm and, of course, the Southern California sun was shining. It was a perfect introduction to L.A.
I enjoyed walking through the retro streets on our way to the beach. The small craftsman style houses painted a pastoral image of the infamous area of L.A.
The board walk was seemingly quiet on a Sunday morn; which, was perfect for exploring as a family. We’d only just flown in the night before from a cooler, B.C. autumn climate–brilliantly coloured leaves falling from trees, a fall coat needed in the mornings.
To arrive on a warm, California Beach on the very next morning was a blissful treat.
Peter and Pip stop for a drink.
Notice the guy in green in the left corner? He’s promoting medicinal marijuana. There were signs and shops all along Venice Beach encouraging us to come inside and fill out some forms to see if we qualified for medicinal marijuana use (if we were Americans of course).
-Had the suspicion that one is handed an address where she/he can pick up this “medicinal” marijuana whether or not she/he qualifies…
As a teenager, Peter had heard all about Muscle Beach and always wanted to see it. He was too shy to pose for a muscle flex pic so Pip and I obliged.
