18 Years Of Halloween Costumes

1997 Halloween: Mistaya as Po (age 11 months)

I made Mist (11 months old) her first Halloween costume: Po, the Teletubbie. It ended up taking many hours to complete. Here she is in her pram, ready to stroll around her Saskatoon, Saskatchewan neighbourhood.

Still working the Po costume. This time, Mist’s 23 months old and has her dear brother Weldy the Pug to accompany her on her first walk around her Saskatoon neighbourhood. We lived in a historical house on an avenue with the same name as Mist’s surname. I persuaded friends to sew costumes for their little girls and the three Teletubbies pose together below:

We got one more year out of good old Po the Teletubbie costume. Mist is almost three years old in this pic. This time Mist poses with her Dad, Peter. I was very pregnant with baby number two on this night.

Mist has a new baby sister, Tabs! Tabs (age 10 months) is a bunny (I sewed the polar fleece hat) and big sister Mist (3 & 3/4) finally graduated to be Rapunzel (I sewed this costume too). Our house is for sale and we are preparing to move in the New Year.

Here we are in our new home in Kelowna, British Columbia. We bought a new home perched high up on Knox Mountain. Mist (age 4) is a princess and Tabs ( age 1) is Po. Tabs was already demonstrating her independent do-it-yourself personality: she insisted on putting on her own lipstick for the night. Tabs was very excited for her first trick or treating experience: we rang the bell and as soon as any of the neighbours opened their doors, an excited Tabs rushed right by them and darted into their houses!

Tabs (age 2) is Po again and Mist (5)  is a big school girl (in kindergarten), dressed up as Sailor Moon (above). Mist and her best friend Bree are the Sailor Moon twins at school (below).

Tabs (3) is a fairy and Mist (6) is a princess. Mist is very sick with strep throat in this pic (fever 40 degrees Celcius). She had her tonsils removed shortly after Halloween.

Scan-4

Tabs is Tinkerbell (4) and Mist (7) is Hermione Granger (from Harry Potter–I made her school uniform under the cape). We were in Nelson, BC visiting Auntie Theresa and cousin Kyran. Auntie Theresa was having a huge Halloween party!

Scan-7

I’m (R) a yeoman from Star Trek and my sister Catherine (L) is Farrah Fawcett (from Charlie’s Angels).

Picture-012

In this action shot Mist (8) is Hermione again and Tabs (5) is Cinderella. Our pug Weldy is a leopard (I made his costume). You can tell how I was feeling at this time of my life as I took only 2 pics of this particular Hallloween and they were both blurry (I probably forgot to charge the camera battery). I was very pregnant with baby #3 at the time and I was having a difficult pregnancy.

Baby #3 arrived! Little Pip (8 months) is my mini-me witch. Tabs (6) is big sister witch and Mist (9) is a corpse bride (her costume was so good: a real bouquet of dead flowers and real dead leaves and branches in her hair). No longer pregnant, I am feeling much better on this Halloween as baby Pip is a very happy and healthy bundle of love that we all adore.

We’re in Disney World for Halloween on this year! Cousin Kyran  joined us on our Florida trip. We had so much fun. Mist (11) and Kyran (14) are vampires, Tabs (8) Minnie Mouse—she put together her own costume (my do-it-yourself-wonder girl), and Pip (2) is a leopard. We’re at our hotel in this pic, ready to head to Downtown Disney to trick or treat.
