Tropical Peach Breeze Smoothie

For a refreshing and nutritious summer smoothie, try this peach smoothie from the California Cling Peach Board. Canned peaches are always easy to have on hand and are very nutritious: canned peaches have 3x the vitamin C as fresh peaches and also contain 1.5 x more antioxidants than fresh peaches. The Greek yogurt adds protein to make this a well rounded nutritious breakfast.

I made this recipe on Sunday morning and brought one to my teenage daughter in her bed. It was an easy way to get her to eat breakfast (she often misses breakfast saying she’s not hungry)!

Tropical Peach Breeze Smoothie

1 14 oz can peaches in fruit juice
1/2 cup almond milk
1/2 cup Greek Yogurt (vanilla, honey or peach)
1 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp ginger (I used fresh ground)
1/8 tsp nutmeg
Honey or agave syrup (optional)

Drain peaches reserving 2 tbsp juice. Place peaches, peach juice, almond milk, yogurt, vanilla, ginger and nutmeg in blender. Blend until smooth. Add honey or agave nectar to sweeten if you wish. Makes 2 cups (2 smoothies).
