Queen Of The Godforsaken Book Launch Party
Bohemian Cafe
October 16, 2015
Queen Of The Godforsaken book launch party was wonderful success! I couldn’t have asked for a better event. The party had the best vibe. We had a total of 50 guest come out to support the launch of Queen…. I didn’t realize what a feat the number was until one of the servers (Rebecca) said that she’s been to author events where only 4 people showed up—yikes! Everything came together: the guests, ambience, food, entertainment, my presentation, the Bohemian servers. I love the Bohemian Cafe atmosphere, it was the perfect place to hold a literary event. I learned a few things along the way: namely, don’t start the presentations at a book event until at least 45 minutes after it starts (on a Friday night, people like to saunter in at a leisurely pace). Thank you to everyone who came out to support my launch. I was thrilled to see each and every one of you at the party. I you all and I you all because in Queen Of The Godforsaken language, the lightening bolt means a whole lot (read the novel to get the significance).
The launch started with an author introduction provided by John Klironomos and then I provided a scintillating introduction to the novel, followed by a reading and then time for questions. We then had a wonderful musical interlude (guitar, mandolin and vocals) provided by Theresa Hart and Kyran Cunningham (their music style is folk/contemporary). Anemone and Tabitha managed book sales while I signed a few copies. Then, my youngest daughter Pippi played one of the songs from my novel sound track. While I wrote the novel, I listened to the music of my characters lives for inspiration. Queen Of The Godforsaken has an amazing sound track and I hope to share it with fans of QOTGF one day. One of the songs on the sound track is ACDC’s Thunderstruck.
Sharing Queen Of The Godforsaken with so many potential readers is a dream come true. The novel was many years in the making and I have many individuals to thank for their help in the writing/publishing process: Thistledown Press: Al and Jackie Forrie, Stephanie Strain; my editor Kim Beach; my early readers: Theresa Hart, Miranda Hart, Catherine Hart, Kyran Cunningham; my first copy editor Robert Carlson; my family: Peter, Mistaya, Tabitha and Pippi for putting up with my obsessive writing habits, and my parents for giving me a childhood that fostered my creativity: running wild through BC forests and prairie fields.

Thank you Penny! I thought I’d be a little anxious and was pleasantly surprised at how much fun the entire evening was 🙂
